While you're playing, try to decode other pairs' signaling say "Stop!" before they can say "kemps!" to guarantee your point. To make things interesting, or to throw off other teams, come up with a system of words or actions for hints. When you think your partner has four-of-a-kind, yell "kemps!" and hope you're right. Instead, players race to get four-of-a-kind first and (discreetly) notify their partner when they have it. Grab a partner! The concept of kemps mirrors that of spoons, but with no object-grabbing. For extra summer fun, put plastic spoons at the bottom of a swimming pool. Church Studied at Carleton College Author has 1.5K answers and 17. Poker, but for me it's better with five to nine people. The objective? Obtain a spoon at all costs. My favorites are all the old standards: 1. But if anyone grabs a spoon, forget about your cards and grab one, too. If you get four-of-a-kind, grab a spoon immediately. Only four cards can be in your hand at any given point. If he wants the card, he keeps it, otherwise he discards it face down, on the table, to the next player. The dealer has the remaining deck face down, which he/she draws from. Players are then each dealt four cards, which they can look at. In fact, the more the merrier and the crazier the better! Before dealing, lay out one less spoon (or fork, pen, candy bar, etc.) than the number of players. Here's another high-energy game, great for any size group. If any player thinks another player is lying about his play, call out: "Bull!" The caught deceiver must pick up the pile, but a wrong accuser must pick up, too. After the ace, the next player would put down any 2s in her hand and verbalize her play, for example, "One 'two'." Here's the trick: if you have no 2s, etc., you lie, and hope you don't get caught. After dealing out the entire deck, players go clockwise putting cards face down chronologically (everyone can look at their deck). Grab your Slaps group and double it for this entertaining game of deceit. Warning: Remove all rings or sharp bracelets before slapping. The first player to slap gets the deck, and the person to collect the whole deck in the end, wins. If two like cards (think two 7s, Kings, etc.) land on top of one another, or a sandwich is made (think 7, King, 7), players should slap the pile as fast as possible. Each player then takes turns flipping their top card onto the main pile, one by one, quickly. Deal the whole deck out, so everyone has a face-down stack. Not a game for the tired or sensitive, Slaps is a high-intensity card game best for 4 to 8 people. Since the spree of textbooks, papers, drama and dread has ended, here's a card game guide to help ace your summer. A simple deck of cards can lead to a hilarious evening of fun.
